Quick checks

Try these before you ring

You might fix it yourself. If so, great. If not, we’re a call away.

Three quick checks before you ring

Look at the pressure gauge. It should sit at roughly 1 to 1.5 bar. Check the thermostat is actually asking for heat. And see whether your other gas appliances, like the hob, still work. Low pressure and thermostat trouble are two of the three callouts we see most, so they’re worth ruling out.

Snap a photo of the fault code

Showing a code? Take a picture of the display and WhatsApp it to us with the boiler’s make and model. Often that tells the engineer which part to bring, and it can save you a second visit.

Should you repair or replace?

If your boiler is older than about twelve years and needs a costly part, replacing it is usually the better move. If it’s younger, repairing generally makes more sense. Either way, you’ll get both figures and the decision is yours.

The pressure keeps falling

Having to top up every few weeks means water is escaping somewhere. It’s either a leak on the system or an expansion vessel that has failed. Refilling won’t cure it, so it’s worth tracking down before it marks a ceiling.

Your questions

What people ask us

Is it worth fixing my boiler?

That comes down to its age and which part has gone. We’ll price up a repair and a replacement, so you can weigh them side by side instead of hearing just one figure.

What does the fault code on my boiler mean?

Every manufacturer uses different codes, so we’d rather look than guess. WhatsApp us a photo of the display with the make and model. Most of the time we can tell you the likely cause before an engineer even leaves.

Why does my boiler pressure keep dropping?

Most often there’s a leak somewhere on the system, or the expansion vessel has failed. Topping it up again and again only hides the problem, and a slow leak above a ceiling can turn costly.

Is your team Gas Safe registered?

Yes, they are. By law, gas work has to be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
