Toilets fitted and swapped

Toilet installation in London, new or replacement

Toilet installation in London is often just a morning’s job when you’re swapping one for another. Moving a toilet, fitting a wall-hung pan on a frame, or adding a WC where there’s never been a soil connection is a bigger piece of work. It raises different questions, and it’s best to ask them before you buy the suite, not once it turns up.

Try these before you ring

You might fix it yourself. If so, great. If not, we’re a call away.

Measure up before buying

Whether a toilet fits your current pipework comes down to the gap from the wall to the centre of the waste, plus the cistern’s height and width. Take a side-on photo of your existing toilet and send it with the model you like. We’ll tell you if it fits before you order.

A wall-hung toilet needs a frame, and a wall to suit

The pan is held up by a steel frame that takes the weight, not by the plasterboard. It looks neater and it’s easier to clean, but it needs more room behind than most people expect. In a small cloakroom, that often settles it.

Hidden cisterns still need a way in

One day someone will need to get behind that panel, because the flush valve and inlet valve are the parts that wear out. So an access panel is a must. Tiling over everything is a choice that’s costly to undo.

A wobbly toilet will leak sooner or later

Each time it moves, the waste seal loosens a little more. By the time a stain appears on the ceiling below, it’s usually been leaking for a while. If yours shifts when you sit on it, get it sorted now.

Your questions

What people ask us

Will you fit a toilet I’ve bought myself?

Yes, and that’s what most people do. Send us the model first, so we can check where the waste sits and whether you’ll need any adaptors.

How long does a simple swap take?

Replacing like with like normally takes a morning. Moving the waste, or fitting a concealed cistern or wall-hung frame, takes longer, and we’ll quote once we’ve had a look.

Could you move my toilet to the other side of the room?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the waste pipe can run downhill to the soil stack. If it can’t, the other option is a macerator. We’ll explain that honestly, not just reach for it by default.

Will you take away the old toilet?

Yes, that’s included. Wherever we can, old ceramics are recycled rather than thrown in a skip.
