New boilers

New boiler installation in London

Boiler installation in London covers a few different jobs: fitting a boiler for the first time, switching to a different type of system, or moving it somewhere that makes more sense. The choices that matter most come before any fitting. What size do you need, which type, and where should it go?

Quick checks

Try these before you ring

You might fix it yourself. If so, great. If not, we’re a call away.

Getting the size right beats picking a brand

Too big, and a boiler keeps switching on and off until it wears out. Too small, and it never quite keeps up. The right size depends on how many radiators, bathrooms and people you have, not on what was fitted before. Your old boiler may have been the wrong size as well.

A combi isn’t always the answer

For most flats and smaller houses, a combi works well. But if you have two or more bathrooms in use at the same time, a system boiler with a cylinder usually suits you better. A combi can’t run two showers at once without both losing out.

Think carefully about where it goes

Moving a boiler means extra pipework and a new flue route. It can also fix problems you’d otherwise live with for years: noise through a bedroom wall, a flue coming out where it shouldn’t, or a boiler hidden in kitchen units so every service means taking cupboards apart.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

In a listed building or conservation area, there are limits on where a flue can come out. It’s worth knowing that before you pick a boiler, not after. In parts of London where this crops up a lot, we check it first.

Your questions

What people ask us

How long will fitting a new boiler take?

Swapping like for like is usually one day. If you’re changing system type or moving the boiler, expect around two. We’ll tell you which applies when we quote.

Combi or system boiler: which should I choose?

A combi suits most flats and smaller houses. If two or more bathrooms are likely to be used at the same time, go for a system boiler with a cylinder. A combi can’t properly supply two showers at once.

Could you move my boiler somewhere else?

In most cases, yes. It adds pipework and flue work to the job, but it’s often worth doing, especially to get a boiler out of a bedroom wall or from behind kitchen units.

Will you take my old boiler away?

Yes. Removing and disposing of the old one is part of the job, and it’s included in your quote.
