Old refrigerant is often what forces a replacement

Older systems were filled with a refrigerant that hasn’t been legal to top up for years. If one of these develops a leak, there’s no legal repair that keeps it running on the same gas. Whatever shape the rest of the unit is in, replacing it is usually the only real choice.

Compare a repair price before you decide

Where a repair is genuinely possible, any replacement quote should come with the price of fixing what you’ve got. If nobody has offered you that repair figure, ask.

Use the replacement to fix the sizing

If your system has never quite cooled the room, or a single split can’t cope now the space has changed, replacing it is the moment to size it properly or switch to a multi-split. Don’t just fit the same undersized unit again.

The outdoor unit and pipework might not all need replacing

Depending on their age and condition, existing pipe runs can sometimes be reused. That keeps the job smaller and leaves your walls alone. We’ll tell you which applies before we quote, not after.

How can I tell if my air conditioning needs replacing or just repairing?

Look at its age, what has actually failed, and whether its refrigerant can still legally be topped up. A system on an obsolete refrigerant with a leak usually has to be replaced. Most other faults are worth trying to repair first.

Will you give me a repair price as well as a replacement price?

Yes, whenever a repair is genuinely possible. You should have two figures to compare, not just one.

Can I move up to a bigger or multi-split system when I replace?

Yes, and replacing is the ideal time, especially if your current system has never kept up with the room, or you’d like more rooms running off one outdoor unit.

Will you take the old unit away?

Yes. Removing and disposing of the old system, outdoor condenser included, is part of the job.
