Boiling water tap installation for London kitchens
Boiling water tap installation is a simple job, but there are two things most buyers find out too late. You need a power socket under the sink, and the tank takes up cupboard space you’re probably using. Know that before your kitchen goes in and neither is a problem. We fit new taps across London, replace old ones and service the ones already in place.

What the job involves
- Boiling water taps fitted, most makes
- Planning the under-sink cupboard and where the tank sits
- Isolation valves, so servicing the tap doesn’t mean draining the house
- Filters fitted, and cartridges changed on schedule
- Swapping out an old boiling tap, or going back to a normal mixer
- Taps that combine boiling, filtered and chilled water
A few things to check
A quick look might sort it without us. We’re happy to say so.
Check for a socket under the sink
The tank runs on electricity, so the cupboard needs a socket or a switched fused spur. No socket? You’ll need an electrician for that, and it’s best sorted before we arrive.
Plan for the tank in your cupboard
Picture a small bin, with some space round it for air. In a compact kitchen, that often means the bin has to move. Work out where everything will live before you buy the tap.
Filters aren’t optional
Skipped cartridge changes are the number one reason boiling taps give up early. In London’s hard water, the filter is what keeps scale out of the tank, and replacing a tank costs far more than years’ worth of cartridges.
Safe around children, with one caveat
On every make, the boiling side needs a deliberate two-step action to work. That makes it child-resistant, but it isn’t a lock. Take a minute to show your children how it works, rather than relying on them never reaching it.
Questions we get a lot
Will I need an electrician too?
Only when there’s no socket or fused spur under the sink. If one is there, we can do the whole job. If not, an electrician has to do that part, and we’ll let you know at the start.
How much room does the tank take up?
Plan for something about the size of a small kitchen bin, plus space for air and for changing the filter. It varies between makes, so send us the model and we’ll check.
I already have a boiling tap. Will you service it?
Yes. Changing filters, descaling and fixing valve faults are all routine for us, whatever the make and whoever put it in.
Do they cost much to run?
They use some standby power to keep the tank hot, balanced against not boiling a whole kettle for one cup. Filter cartridges are the bigger cost, and with hard water you can’t avoid them.
